MagSi-STA beads are magnetic silica beads coated with Streptavidin. 

The beads can be used in numerous biological and biochemical applications based on the very strong Streptavidin-Biotin bonding. Silica beads coated with Streptavidin can be used to isolate biotinylated proteins or other biotinylated molecules out of different media. It's easy to bind a biotinylated antibody to the MagSi-STA bead to isolate a specific target protein out of a cell lysate.

For rapid isolation of DNA and for essential purification steps these kits can be used in the determination of gene-expression or polymorphisms in metabolic or genetic hereditory diseases. The application of beads for isolating of DNA from cells needs to wash-out bound DNA, which can be done by different principles.

MagSi-proteomics beads are magnetic silica beads. The surface of the beads has been modified with C4, C8 and C18 alkyl groups typical for reversed phase applications.

The MagSi proteomics C18 beads are an ideal tool for the purification, concentration and desalting of peptides and protein digests. Compared to other C18 filled pipette or column tools desalting using MagSi proteomics C18 results in best quality MALDI ToF spectra at reasonable price. A typical protein tryptic digest of up to 1 nmol in total can now be desalted at prices below 1 EUR without time consuming, home brew column filling.

MagSi C8 beads represent an intermediate hydrophobicity (less hydrophobic than C18 and more hydrophobic than C4 beads) and are suitable for sample preparation in context to proteomic profiling and biomarker research. The relatively low hydrophobicity of the C4 beads allows the purification and fractionation of larger biomolecules like proteins.

So MagSi proteomics gives you the flexibility to desalt and prefractionate your sample ranging from small peptides to large proteins with top quality at reasonable price.
