One-step antibody capture using Sepmag systems in conjunction with protein A and protein G magnetic beads from MagnaMedics.

Protein A and protein G are recombinant proteins that bind with high affinity to the Fc portion of several classes and subclasses of immunoglobulin (IgG´s) from a variety of species. Specific antigens are bound in a second step reversible towards the bound IgG. A following washing step and elution by pH shift generates the purified target protein under native conditions.

The combination of using MagnaMedics high-yield MagSi protein A and G beads and MagnaMedics magnetic separation systems results in large-scale antibody purification made simple. Separation occurs in just minutes. In addition, beads can be regenerated and reused up to 10 times.

Compared to other purification methods, such as the streptavidin bead system, protein G and A beads are capable of capturing the antibody in its native form (biotinylation is not necessary) and the binding is reversible.  Furthermore, the superior surface chemistry blocks unspecific binding of residual proteins and further biomolecules. Therefore your target protein can be purified in a single step.


Efficient capture using MagSi-protein G beads

MagSi-protein G beads were compared with competitor X´s product (figure 1). The SDS-Page (silverstain) result indicates a higher specific binding capacity for the GAPDH protein (37 kDA) for all sizes of MagSi-protein G as compared to competitor X´s product.
