MagnaMedics Diagnostics BV will be moving on december 1st 2008 from Maastricht Biopartner Centre to the new Chemelot Research & Business Campus in Geleen. “We have passed our start-up phase,” says MagnaMedics’ CSO-CEO Paul Borm. “At Chemelot we can use the available know-how and facilities on new materials, to further extend our production and markets.

Besides our standard program we are able to customize your special nano and micro particles. Therefore we can encapsulate materials, like ferro fluid, rhodamin, quantum dots and fluorescent or regular dyes. And we can also couple materials at the surface of the beads, like specific ligands of choice, customers antibodies, streptavidin and protein A or G.

Aachen, March 2006 - Since the beginning of this year Prof. Paul Borm has become a partner of the young nano-biotechnology company. Integrated in the future therapy-application development of MagnaMedics, Paul Borm acts as project supervisior of the scientific and will be departmentis in charge of fostering the cooperation with several research partners, for example the Fraunhofer Institut and University Maastricht.

MagnaMedics launches MagSi Product Line

Maastricht, September 2005 – MagSi-Streptavidin consists of silica nanospheres that encapsulate fine magnetic particles. The surfaces of these spheres (also known as beads) are coated with the binding protein streptavidin. This enables target molecules, such as blood cells, DNA or bacteria to be captured, isolated and further treated. MagSi streptavidin beads are ideally suited for use in automated processes and are available in sizes ranging from 30 nm to 300 µm.
